F R I E N D

what a beautiful word ~

I have many,

yes...

old friends, new friends, good friends....

some are friends I've never met, 

and ones just down the road...

Friends I can call in times of need 

and they are here lickety-split,

&

Friends I haven't spoken to in years 

...but when we do talk we catch up like it was just yesterday ~

a TRUE Friendship

comes with arguments & disagreements.

it comes with tears and sometimes much anger & pride ~

but the friendship that will last forever

is between the those that know

 that no matter what,

they will always be able to patch things up & work things out.

I am blessed to have friends in my life that sometimes disagree with me

and guide me on my path.

They keep me true to myself, 

push me when I'm stalling 

and apply the breaks when I'm going at

break-neck speed...

they tell you truths about yourself that you can't or won't see

and they reflect back to you the light shared between you both.

Friendship is fickle.

it finds you ever-so quietly and really when you least expect it.

but 

it also comes from many places too ~

it can find you when you're very young and it will hold your hand until graduation day.

behind you in a line at the grocery store, 

~or~

in a class that you were timid to take but happy now that you did...

it can even find you in your own family....

Yet, every friendship has

rips, tears, loose ends and tatters ~

patches, worn-out-spots, frayed edges and knots 

but they

...all make up the best friendships.

sew them back together with hundreds of tiny stitches like

healing words and gentle reminders of what's truly important.

...those friendships are so worth keeping and nurturing

and I am so very thankful I have you in my life.
