Little Mother

Hello friends & Folk!!!

Here is one of our sweet hens...
...she's been brooding & setting on at least a dozen eggs
for 3 weeks and yesterday hatched her first chick!

and here he (she?) is!!! Awwww,......

you can see some of her eggs-in-waiting under her...
and we can hear them 'peeping' in their eggs ~
telling us they're ready to join their sibling in the big bright world!!

but, what we didn't realize when we were taking these snaps,
is the OTHER little peeper up by her tail!
hahaha! stinker ~ didn't even know he (she?) was there :)))

...and here are two more sister-wives...
I guess they're sleeping double in a single bed!

they have both been setting on the same clutch of eggs for about 2 weeks now ~
we'll wait and see if they'll share parental duties as well!
It's a rainy day here at the farm today...
and the rain is much needed for our gardens & hay fields.
I'll be found inside,
working on new punch needle designs
& hooked wool pieces for the GG show in October.

Hoping you all have a loverly day!!!
Blessings from the Farm,
Lori

  9. I just loved how you showed your hens and hatching chicks!! We need rain to the clouds come but they just hang around the Rocky Mountains leaving snow.

  10. There aren't too many things cuter than baby chicks in my book (well, ok, kittens and baby bunnies rank right up there)....but I agree wholeheartedly - AWWWWWW! Love the sister wives! I've never heard of two hens claiming the same brood before....you'll have to keep us posted on how that plays out! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
