Good Morning Friends & Folk ~
yesterday I showed a little peek of what's on my frame at the moment...
yesterday I showed a little peek of what's on my frame at the moment...
and here's what I have so far ~
i've been wanting to stitch/hook our donkeys for a while, and thought I would begin with Daisy,
our baby-girl Donkey...she is a Standard, and as so has lighter coloring than Pinocchio.
I chose the wools below to hook the background...what do you think?
I am using all as-is wools (Rebecca's) and I love how textural and muted it is .
can you see the piles of wool on my table under the rug? oh yeah.....love love love.

I hand-cut my strips, so they are between an 8 and an 8 1/2...
i have a couple of cutters, but I've been enjoying the hand-cutting. It seems to create less dust (well, maybe) but definitely creates less worm-age (is that a word?)

it is so soft and hooks like a dream...
I will be using more to hook some sheep in my next rug (or two!)
blessings from the farm,
I will be using more to hook some sheep in my next rug (or two!)
I think I might pull out the leaves on the plant and replace them with daisies instead ~
but if I do that, I might hook a darker background.

oh & i'm hoping to offer this as a paper pattern...we'll see.
but, today & the next few days will be spent creating handmades for our

Hee haw, hee haw! Daisy is looking great. Nice choices for the background. I agree with trying some daisies.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet piece! Your lil donkey girl, so cute!! Looove the boucle. And I think daisies would be lovely! xxoo
ReplyDeleteDefinitely change to daisies - for Daisy Donkey, definitely!
ReplyDeleteReally sweet Lori! So glad to see you hooking again!!! I vote for a daisy too, and think it will be just fine with the background wools you have chosen...have a lovely day! ~L
ReplyDeleteLove it!! Colors are wonderful! Changing out the leaves for daisies is a great idea... and I'm sure your Miss Daisy Donkey would agree!!
ReplyDeleteAnother nice design Lori. Love the colors in both Daisy and the vintage colors of the flag.

Fabulous,I love the subtle shades of wool. What is it about rug hooking at this time of year? It must be in the air. I've been both hooking and punching, so I guess I'm what you call double loopy

The daisies would be wonderful! I think Daisy would approve too! Lori that is such a sweet rug and am anxious to see the background hooked. There is something about hand cutting the wool I love..... it really gives that truly hand made look and feel! I like the saving on the "wormage" as you've so eloquently coined!
ReplyDeletePerchance is Daisy a Democrat? ( just kidding but the design is perfect for an election year LOL!)
Hugs!

ReplyDeleteDaisies for Daisy, of course! ;o) Wonderful design and most loverly colors Miss Lori...That has to be one of the best flags I've ever seen hooked. The colors are dreamy - especially that blue. And I can't believe how even your hooking is - especially considering you hand cut. Wow.... Can't wait for more! Happy Tuesday! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
ReplyDeleteLove the donkey. Your rugs are fantastic. Always waiting to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteRhonda

ReplyDeleteHi Lori,
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest donkey I have ever seen, with the exception of the real Daisy of course. I agree with everyone, your choice of color is amazing.
