~ Patience and Progress ~

My stitching chair sits lonely in my sewing room....
waiting patiently for my return while I spend most of my time resting on our sofa.

the quiet corner of my sewing room
 ~ where I create & sketch, draw...
and dream.

being sick with a cold has forced me to spend countless hours inside my own head,
which can be a wonderful place, or not so much.

In my mind, I have completely remodeled this old farmhouse,
painted every room a different color...changed furniture, curtains ~ rugs.
having to stay put in one place makes you notice things like just how much 'stuff' I have
and just don't want/need any longer.

in a previous post I wrote about purging, room by room.
Good intentions yes, but halted by this godforsaken cold that has gripped me for almost a week now.

patience, patience.....

but,
just because I am down doesn't mean I am out.
I have kept up with my sketches,
put them to cloth and am punching them ~
yes,
slowly but surely.

two down,  two to go.

 hearts, sheep, chickens, birds
baskets, vines & leaves
all seem to be what is calling my muse lately.

Spring fever?
aha! that's what I have!

no, I won't wish it away.
I'll enjoy the beauty & quiet that these Winter months will bring...
reflection and planning ahead
~ remembering and forgetting all at the same time.

I wanted to say that I am late in getting out recent orders
due to being sick, but have high-hopes of shipping on Tuesday,
since Monday is Martin Luther King day.

what a wise, wonderful soul he was.
here are a few of my favorite quotes of his:

Darkness cannot drive out darkness;
only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate;
only love can do that.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin,
 but by the content of their character.

I have decided to stick with love.
... Hate is too great a burden to bear.

The time is always right to do what is right.

We must learn to live together as brothers { and sisters}
or perish together as fools.

Wishing you all a day of peace and creativity!

Blessings from the Farm ~
 Lori

While being ill is not pleasant, I believe it is our bodies telling us to slow down…and ultimately allowing us to think, re-evaluate, and appreciate things. MLK has always been one of my heroes and I taught in detail about him, the times, and his "I Have a Dream" speech to my English classes I showed countless original video clips of the times, which made it real to my students. As for Spring Fever, dear Lori, I always get it right after Christmas, lol! Enjoy Old Man Winter…even he is beautiful...

It's a good time to ease up, reflect a bit and eat lots of chicken soup.
Your latest pieces are precious!

I hope you're feeling better soon. Being sick for busy people is often more painful because you cannot be up and about doing, doing, doing... remember to rest and get well all the while working things out in your head. Some of the best ideas and thoughts come from being forced to rest and recuperate.

Love your blog!

Goodness Lori, you have been down for the count this past week! Nothing worse than the Flu as it makes one positively exhausted beyond belief! I love how you have re-organized and downsized every room in your mind. I often do that when I can't sleep at night and some really good ideas come out of those musings. When your energy returns, you will have that those plans to fall back on as you seriously have the time and energy to make some changes that need to be done. I look forward to hearing what you end up doing. I find a huge energy lift when I get busy and create change in a room and make a place that feels more relaxed and cozy.
Thank-you for the words of MLK today. His work has truly changed the world in great ways.
