~ The Sweetest Word.... ~

I had rather be on my farm than be emperor of the world.
 ~ George Washington

good old George.
he sure knew best, huh?

I am a self-admitted and heartily proclaimed homebody.
and very proud of it.

...there really isn't anywhere I would rather be than in my own tattered chair
pulled up snug against our woodstove in this old farmhouse -

unless, of course, it is at my mom's house....
~ or anywhere really, that she is,
that feels like home to me...

our days begin & end at the places we call home.
... some are fancy, others plain
most are lovingly in-between.

we fill our homes with things & souls we love ~
from collectibles to family & kittens...
old things, new things, broken things,
and beloved ~ things.
filled too, with laughter and pain and every other emotion known to human-kind,
H O M E is where our hearts are.

So, with that being said,
~ I thought it would be appropriate to design the next project for our
Primitive Punch Needle Club
using that thought-provoking word...

rendered in the style of, and inspired by
and antique hooked rug ~
what better way to celebrate the place we hold so dear?

Club members will begin receiving their kits this coming week ~
we do apologize for the delay with us being so busy this time of the year.

kits include:
threads
weavers cloth
paper pattern
color photo
punching instructions
&
finishing suggestions

I finished mine by attaching it to the front of one of Peter's Coffer Boxes,
but you can finish yours however you'd like ~
here is the link to join ;
and here is where you can purchase a Coffer if you'd like to ;

I do love to see photos of your finished club projects!

Have a *sparkling* November day my friends,

~ Blessings from the Farm ~

What a lovely project for your group! Your thoughts this morning speak so loudly to me. These days my head is full of old memories from my youth. Days on my Grandmother's old farm in Indiana, my home in Charlottesville, and the precious pieces of those past days that are in my home now. There is no going back in time, but somehow it feels comforting to recreate some of the same vignettes in my home. Thank-you for sharing the strength of your home in your everyday life!

You really struck a heart chord this morning, dear Lori. I adore this time of year and all the love it brings, sharing meals, exchanging gifts…snuggling my little grandsons when I can catch 'em! Your HOME piece exudes love, too…have a beautiful, blustery November day!

I'm also a homebody and never go out at night. What a delightful needle punch design. Must admit that I was tempted to join the club as I know (or used to know) how to punch and have a few differente size needles. But since my addiction to wool and hook is so strong was afraid the kit would just sit around unfinished. Maybe one day I'll bite the bullet.

As I lay in a hospital bed hooked up to machines I thought about the Ohio show last year and how thrilled I was to get to meet you. And I thought about your farm and how I really want to share a carrot with the donkeys and see your 3rd floor sanctuary. I will get there! Why are hospital rooms so sterile? All the art is in the hallways so you glance at it as they wiz you by. There should be art in the rooms or SOMETHING! I really find them depressing and can not wait to get out. I hope to be back stitching, punching, and hooking soon. Thanks for the smiles in the mean time. Glad the show went well but how could it not. Your goodies are always the best!

Happy Thanksgiving :)

Good morning Lori
I think you are the most creative person I know - you design and achieve so much in such short periods of time.
And bless you for this sweet warm post about 'home'.
I wish I could have gotten in on this new project but my time is spent trying to create and finish orders - seems there's no time left for me.
Beautiful design.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
