Fall is when the rain returns to Texas a bit to refresh the soil and plants. That smell of moisture in the dirt is so comforting to me because I know that the first cool front is just around the corner as well! I always get so energized by those small changes in the air and ground.

The best things about Fall are the cool crisp mornings, the change between seasons, after the blistering heat of summer and before the frigid cold of winter, the rich color of the leaves changing color, yummy, warming, hearty soups (although I like soup anytime of year), and, best of all, October is my birthday month!!!

I don't even know where to begin....I love Autumn, Fall and Halloween because we begin to get cool, dry air, which in return gives me lots of energy, especially to craft. I love the colors that come with Autumn. They are so warm and inviting, especially a primitive pumpkin orange. It is also a time for baking. Apple and pumpkin pies, cookies, breads. I tend to make a lot of comfort food in the Autumn time, not only is it delicious, but it warms up the house and smells good. It also reminds me of growing up and how my Mom always decorated our house for Fall, Halloween and then Thanksgiving. Wonderful memories. And alas, there is pumpkin everything at Dunkin Donuts! I go hog wild in the beginning of September, but by November, I am ready to move on to another flavor! LOL! I usually overdue the pumpkin thing! LOL!

Autumn begins with a subtle change in the skies. A deeper blue, clouds that linger. The horses in the barnyard, steam coming off their backs as the early sun rises. Barn cats huddled in the hay bales. Frost coats the ground. The nights become clear and chilled. The season greets us with migrants birds calling high above. The harvesting of the season's last crops, machines churning into the dark night. A quiet returns, the season for enjoying the fullness of life.

Fall always carries me back to when I was in college in northwest Ohio. Saturdays were football games, and we all had our windows open. The smells of fall come back to me first: dried leaves, dry dirt. And then the sounds of those same dried leaves crackling underfoot and the cheering of the football crowd. The sun was lower in the sky, so winter was approaching. But to us, new college kids with our lives ahead of us, fall was the beginning of another season of friendship and new experiences! Life has never been so exciting as fall in small-town Ohio so many years ago.

The color palette is absolutely gorgeous and shifts from day to day, greens give way to reds, oranges, and yellows as nature prepares for a winter slumber. Many folks, myself included, go into a sort of nesting mode. I tend to begin baking more, crafting more, doing lots of homey things that bring great joy and that will help occupy me for the coming months of cold. My favorite thing is displaying all of the wonderful Halloween themed things that I have stitched over the course of the year, and seeing how my collection grows. I love anything tombstone-themed, or anything with ravens or crows, so Halloween is a wonderful time of year!

I love the cooler temperatures of Autumn.

I don't think my first comment took ? My love of autumn began when I was a wee sprig. My mom would start to decorate the house with pumpkins and scarey things. Piles of leaves in the yard, and back then the smell of burning leaves was awesome. I love it all!!! Thank you Lori !!

Hi Lori Thanks for the chance to win the needle punching. I always like to win things I don't do I LOVE Autumn The smell of leaves burning, apple picking, decorating with the color of leaves, staying in the house when it cools off and stitching, craft shows starting, just about everything else.

My favorite thing about autumn/Halloween is that it is apple picking time! We pick our own and buy fresh squeezed cider too! I love decorating for Halloween especially using my 5 black kitties!!

I love the smells of fall and the colors of fall that are found in the trees, grasses, fields and flowers. I don't like what fall means though; that being that winter is right around the corner ( I live in northern Wisconsin).

Thank you for the opportunity for us to win your lovely floss minder!!

I love so much about the fall the colors in the trees, pumpkins, lots of pumpkins, cooler weather. I used to live in Georgia and missed the autumn changes.

I love the cool morning in the fall! It's been so hot this year that I'm really looking forward to it coming!

I love the clear cool mornings and observing the trees changing colour. I love my garden in autum as the colours in the garden at that time of year are my favourites.

I love crooked purple witches hats, bright orange pumpkins, the brown, yellows, purples, and reds of fall foliage. Pretty Victorian Halloween images (not so much the scary ones! ), mist rising from the ground where I once lived. The joy on my grand children's faces as they Trick-or-Treat.

Fall, perfect Fall ... wary kids head back to school, early mornings getting them off and out the door means "extra" time to stitch in a quiet house with great morning light... coffee tastes better in the Fall, pajamas feel softer & usually our Iowa humidity mellows out and porch stitching & outdoor book reading is once again possible ~ hoorah!

BITTERSWEET...the wonderful orange berries with their yellow shell that grow in my trees on my property. I harvest the vines and use them everywhere! Just so it's a "bittersweet" kind of day! Hugs, Carol

What isn't there to love about Fall/Halloween. The cool air filled with fire wood smoke...the colors of the leaves....the candy that one collects on Hallow's Eve with her little ones hand in hers. I could go on and on LOL!!!

Where I am from, Salinas Valley in CA, we don't get the changing colors, but we know fall is in the air. Cool, crisp mornings and the anticipation of fires in the wood burning stove.
