Our Trip to Penn. ~

Hello Friends & Folk!

we are back home safe & sound from our trip to Penn. this past weekend ~

we attended the
Penn Dry Goods Market
 ~ at the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center in Pennsburg, PA ~

while we were there, we ran into my sweet friend Marie Lombardo, a fellow-member of the
Prim Stitchers Society on Facebook

Hi Marie! it was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely family
{{and I told you that the show would be awesome....was I right?}}

after the show,
we went picking
{a.k.a. antique shopping}

we went to SO many places, that my head is spinning ~
I bought SO many Good Things that my head is spinning....
and my change-purse is empty!!!

the following are some snaps I took from our travels,
and a SMALL portion of the loot I dragged home with me....
{believe me ~ Miss Joan & Miss Felicia did their damage too}

There is just 'something' about Pennsylvania...
can't quite put my finger on it.
but being there recharges & inspires me ~
 I always come home feeling a bit different each time I visit my Mother's home-state.

The architecture and gardens, peacefulness and folks greet us
and lend us a welcome that is as charming as those little lights you see
in so many of the early homes' windows....

Here are a few snaps of the gardens
...located behind one of my very favorite shops in Bethel, PA.

~ Milkweed Antiques ~

the gals that run the shop are
'witchy-folk'  {like me}
and love to decorate with cast-offs and rusty things....

right next-door,
is a sweet little shop called

~ The Brown Bonnet ~
this is their front porch...

 we drove backroads {for hours it seems}
 as Miss Felicia directed us {from the backseat} to each & every shop she could find on her GPS...
Miss Joan proceeded to bring us to the very best dealers in said shops....
{trouble with a capital "T"}

so, in no particular order is my haul ~
a little of it anyway, as the rest will be available this Saturday at our
Annual Spring Open House & Market!!!
{come visit us!}

beautiful ticking found in Jimmy Cramer's booths at
Beaver Creek Antiques in Maryland:

below is a reproduction spool box found somewhere in PA
{can't remember...that 'spinning-head' thing again...}

a few slices of reproduction fabrics from
~ Burkholder's Fabrics ~
{love the colors/prints}

and an early rock-maple sewing hoop clamp below
{found: somewhere in PA!}

below is a smattering of early linen & tow towels from the
Penn Dry Goods Market
from Ann Bedics
{The Cat Lady Antiiques}
I LOVE her FABULOUS booth!!!!

we also visited the awesome shop of Tish Bachleda of
~ The Tweed Weasel ~ in Schaefferstown, PA

I came home with the early seed-bags below:

here are two minuscule strawberry emeries {below}
from the booth of Randi Ona
at the Penn Dry Goods Market...
...are they not thee sweetest?

This big-girl had to come home with me ~
made by Tish Bachleda/The Tweed Weasel...
love love love her!

we saw many wonderful examples of hooked rugs at the Dry Goods Market ~
all of them were out of my meager price-range...
BUT
I spotted this 5ft x 3ft beautiful thing rolled up in a basket under a table
in some little antiques shop in Middle-of-Nowhere, PA and had to have it!

I got a super-duper deal on it
and it will be laid on the floor of our breakfast nook here in the farmhouse kitchen....

I love the fading, the background and the size of it ~
{and Iggy seems to love it too...}

crazy cat ~
 don't give me that look!

another trinket from Tish/The Tweed Weasel...
one of her tiny chickens nestled in a paper basket :)
sweeeet!

by the end of the trip,
the three of us were...
{{ well to use a word that Kathy Barrick uses to describe us, in the most-polite way of course: }}

"SNARKY"
:)

we were tired, hungry & road-weary
waiting for our food at some Applebees somewhere in VA? WV? MD?

oh who knows....
what a beautiful-mess we three are ;)

Flea & Me
~ goofy & crazy ~

and here is Miss Joan ~
choosing her meal at said restaurant.
hi joanie :)

whatcha gonna get joanie??
...dessert chosen before dinner?

All-in-all a wonderful trip in the company of friends ~
and I wish you all the blessings of Good Friends!

now it's back to a normal routine for me...
I have bunches of 'stuff' to finish for the Open House this coming Saturday!!!

**I will be answering all of your emails/pm's/convo's as soon as I can ~
orders that were placed while I was away will be shipped tomorrow :)**

What a putz. I LIVE in PA and didn't know about the show, those shops, those towns! I really need to crawl out from my rock. The rug you snagged is fabulous.

PA is a wonderful state with lots of neat shops. So,glad you & Joan & Felecia had such a wonderful time. Those strawberries are too cute. Thanks for letting me know about the show, it was wonderful. It was nice meeting you & Joan.

What I wouldn't give to go on a fun-filled trip such as this! Your purchases are amazing. I do love the rug but that doll with cat is the just the sweetest thing. Just as I opened the pic of Iggy, my cat Clarisse came sailing up the stairs and jumped up on the chair beside me with the same wild look on her face. They are both too funny!

I live close to Pensburg and was also at the show. I was so impressed by everything there especially the old samplers. Amish country in Lancaster is one of my favorite places to visit too. Just curious how you find these quaint little shops on your GPS. I miss so many good places in my travels to find out about them later. Do you know of an app to find shops like these? I will be sure to check out the places you mentioned in this blog the next time I am there.
