Pentagons, Day #7 and we're…Open!

Hello Friends!
Hello Ice-Cold Saturday!
{soon to be warming up though ~}
{{fingers crossed}}

I wanted to share with you today something that I had seen on Colleen's blog:
it's a box she made from wool called a
Pentagon Sewing Box
{or a dodecahedron}
here is her blog link
and her box, below…

more recently, sweet Susie
from my Facebook Group: Humble Work Hand Embroidery

showed us her project-in-progress:

so I thought I would give it a try…
here's my work so far:

I chose to make my box using quilting cottons in varied light & tone-on-tones
in creams, browns, beige & whites ~

I have yet to stitch the edges of the pentagons together yet,
...but I will work on them today.

…then I'll stitch them all together and once completed,
I'll put the finishing touch of added feather stitching at all of the seams
using Valdani #8 pearl cotton - O 178
which is a variegated mix of said fabric colors above.

I can't wait to see it all finished up!

Today is day #7 on the
Buttermilk Basin Spring Thyme Blog Hop

and today's designer is Tara from
~ Sew Unique Creations ~

hop on over and have a nice visit with her, won't you?

~ AND ~
speaking of 'visits'…
the farm shop will be
O P E N
today!

yes, we are….

Peter has the wood stove blazing in there as I write this,
so I'm hoping that by 10:00 when we open the door
it will be comfy enough for us to work ~

we can all huddle together by the wood stove,
drink our hot tea & chocolate
and stitch the cold away!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In other news,
Hannah & I will be heading to CT on monday the 9th
 for a visit with family up north…
we will return home to VA on the 13th
BUT
the farm shop will be
CLOSED
friday the 13th & saturday the 14th
Upon our return,
I will release ALL of the new Spring designs & wooden primitives
that we have been working on for you!
Have a most-loverly day, my sweet friends ~
...share it with those that love you best.
~ Blessings from the Farm ~
I love Colleen's work. Years ago I used to make these boxes and they are so much fun! Love that she added the strawberry. Hope you and friends stay warm and cozy stitching on this chilly day!
Lori...Love the cottons you chose for the box. If...a big IF I make it again I want to use from my stash of Japanese yarn dyed fabric.
My box is almost done and I hope to post a pic on facebook later today.
Happy stitchin my friend.
I just ordered the template for this project and love that you are using cottons. The possibilities for different looks are endless...
Hi Lori, your sewing box is adorable! I love your fabric choices, the different colour you used inside the lid, but mostly I like how you dangled the strawberry emery and looped the ribbon UP to the button. That was very clever. Thanks so much for posting the link and photos of my tutorial. I really appreicate that. Now back to my cutting table. I've had many orders this week thanks to you! I'm very grateful. If anyone would like a pdf of my tutorial, leave a comment on the tutorial post on my blog.
