One thing leads…..

yesterday I posted about my sketching,
drawing….doodling.

today I have quite a few finished pieces
that I will begin uploading into my Spoonflower and Zazzle shops
to be made into fabric designs, wrapping paper, & postcards….
{links are on sidebar to your right}

my PA German heritage is evident in my work ~
I love those folky birds, flowers, baskets, vines and lettering….

of course I have to add an element of 'me'
~ with keys, hands….hearts.

….and as usual what happens is
my sketchings become the seeds for my needlework designing ~

this time I chose to work on a darker fabric
{I believe this to be prairie cloth}
using a lighter thread
{Valdani #8 pearl cotton}
and embellishing with old buttons….

colonial knot ~ lazy daisy ~ feather stitch ~ primitive satin stitch ~ chain stitch ~ outline stitch
~ just letting my hands & needle play…

when I embroider, I do use a hoop.
unlike when I stitch on linen…

this one is a vintage green & white enamel {metal & cork}
spring-hoop from my collection.

one of my favorite phrases:

~ perhaps I'll include it in the needlework?

I'm hoping to offer some of my simple embroidery designs for you to create…
we don't see too many patterns out there for this kind of work, and I thoroughly enjoy it ~
no counting, no threading

and I like adding different stitches ~ slow & steading stitching…
a refreshing change from punching, cross stitching & hooking :)

Sunny here at the farm again this morning ~
warmer temps again too, in the 50's
gotta love that!

farmhouse chores to be done:
laundry {bedding}
wash floors & windows
clean pantry
farmyard chores to be done:
sweep porches
clean coops
spread sawdust in coops
brush donkeys

only when they're complete will I find my stitching nest again….

Have a beautiful day!!!!

How cool that your wonderful designs are available as fabric and note cards. I'll need to check that out.

I love embroidery, I picked up my first crewel project at a needlework shop I stopped in on my honeymoon in 1972. That's when I started really into needlework and got hooked! Lovely designs Lori. Have a great day!

Hi Lori, it would take me a week to do all that
you have on your list for today. Bet you never
waste a minute. I DID hang linens on the line
this morning after my walk. Thank you so much
for helping me with the hooking. I'm a real
hooker now that I'm going the right way.
Love the embroidery. My favorite thing in the
world. Julia

Lori, thank you so much for the information about the Traveling watercolor set. I have a Hobby Lobby and a Michaels near me and will look there. I have probably seen them before, but didn't know what I was looking at!!!! Just always jumped to the little tubes. Thank you again for your help. Blessings, Dee

Lori I do love your drawings, they speak to my heart of a simpler time. I hope you will offer your stitching project for sale, I went to spoonflower and did not see your new designs.

I will always love this look, and it lends beautifully to the needlework designs. Can't help but to ALSO love, "no counting, No threading". I must confess to becoming bored when I do cross stitch, and prefer to do embroidery any day of the week! These are great. Jeri
