For the Birds ~

each morning during the cold months ~
...we make sure the bird feeders are filled.

our feathered friends come from near & far to our farmyard
for their daily nourishment.

blue jays in our black walnut trees

I love how animated my little friends are ~
how they hop and squawk at each other.

listening for worms

i love blue jays especially ~
their colors & markings are so beautiful :)

handsome little fellow

we usually have jays, cardinals, titmice & juncoes…
goldfinch, purple finch, sparrows ~
bluebirds, indigo buntings and brown headed cowbirds…
just to name a few.

happy cardinal-boy

when the feeders run low,
~ they will make such a ruckus in the cedar bushes!!
making sure we know to do our jobs ;)

I also toss out all of my thread & wool snippets to them ~
to cozy up their nests in the harsh weather….

fill 'er up!

I will be traveling to Richmond today ~
to where the Virginia Guild of Needlewomen will be gathered
...to teach a finishing class for this project:

Joan & I will head on down the road on our adventure ~
can't wait to see these wonderful ladies who help us keep
the needle arts we love alive!

I'll take pics at the class
{if they allow me to?} and if so, share them here ~
I'll also be bringing a trunk show with me of patterns & other 'needful things'

Have a beautiful day my friends ~
and don't forget to feed the birds!

Our feeders are busy, busy as well...love keeping our feathered friends fed. They are such a joy to watch. My stitching chair is in the perfect place to watch as they feed. We have had three types of woodpeckers visiting our feeders this year. Enjoy your day!

Those lucky Richmond stitchers! I don't imagine I could find any such workshop up this way.
Loved your bird photos. We don't see Cardinals here, but lots of Stellar's Jays. That is our Provincial bird.

I have had a very large flock of Gold Finches with a few Purple ones for the last several days.
The feeders are a joy for us to watch and are always kept full.

Wish I could send a pick from my kitchen window (old timey glass : )
Had 2 pilated, 1 flicker and 1 downy! So great to see all 3 at once! Love the black cap chickadees and nuthatches!

Aren't they just lovely? We won't see our spring birds for another 2 months or so yet.
Cute thread bag!

In lower Delaware I have the same birds. And when going out they will raise a ruckus as if saying, "hey woman, we're out of food here". And boy do they go thru a LOT of black oil sunflower seeds. And the price really increased on that a couple years ago. But need to keep my feathered friends (uh, and lazy squirrels) happy.

We share a love for those feathered friends.
I'm sure your class was so much fun for the girls at VGN...had hoped to attend with Holly, but she's off doing her own class. Smiles, Nan

Hi Lori..our feeders are kept full for our fine feathered friends. I so enjoy watching them put on a show for me. This year we have 2 pairs of cardinals , bluejays , wood peckers, and more. I have just recently heard the cardinals come to a home where there is a care. I have been getting healthy again after a hospital stay from Dec.23-31. Interesting eh? I never heard that before.
I wish you lived closer to me so I could look forward to a visit from you at my quilt guild with a trunk show.
You always show such awesome projects you are working on.,truly you are an amazingly talented woman ...who just keeps on creating! Peter is also very talented. You compliment each other. Have a great week end Lori.
Hugs Marg.
