A Helping Hand ~

MANY Thanks
to all who have kept me in their thoughts the last couple of days ~

...the diagnosis is in:
Acute Diverticulitis
*yay*

so now I am on the hunt for a natural approach for dealing with this.

I am NOT a fan of antibiotics at ALL.
so I am educating myself on a more natural & homeopathic level ~
such as probiotics & the like.

Diet will play a major role in keeping me healthier now too,
because with Diverticulosis
supposedly no nuts or seeds are to be consumed
(or other hard-to-digest foods)
for fear of them getting 'stuck' in the pockets in the colon
and thus causing inflammation & infection
(which then becomes: Diverticulitis)

So, there ya have it…in a nutshell,
so-to-speak.

While feeling sludgy,
but always having to be busy ~
I kept up with you on Facebook and your blogs ~

in the Prim Stitchers Society group on FB,
one of my friends showed a most-awesome metal Witch Hand that she was using to display
her stitched pendants on ~

I was over the moon excited
when she said she could find me one!!!!
and then she took the time to box it & ship it up to me :)

WHAT AN AWESOME PERSON
 you are Cindy!!!!!!!

and
 I
L O V E
it

eeeep!

between pangs of pain,
I have been stuffing little folks here in the sewing room too ~

almost finished

my favorite spot
from the chair in front of my machine,
I can see out two windows ~

I can keep my eye on the donkeys
while they graze…

h e l l o

and I can see the front of our little farm shop too….

soon will be filled with all kinds of
Good Things

September brings changes in colors around here,
some subtle, some not-so…

the nandina berries are beginning to turn their winter-red
and I'm hoping that the birds won't eat them all before we get to enjoy them a bit ~

I've hung out our folky Owl flag for a pop of color too :)

the checkered border makes me happy!

and our gourds are coming in too ~
can't wait to show them all to you!!

Have a beautiful, creative day my friends!!!

* Blessed be *
 Lori

So happy you found out just the cause of your tummy issues. I know you will do what's best for it and wish you good health from here on out. I just knew that witch hand that you loved so much would find a way to your farmhouse. Smiling to know you your friends were on the lookout for it. Enjoy displaying some of your pretties on it.
Hugs my friend! N.

It's good to have a diagnosis. My mum has diverticulitis and managed it, as you've said, with diet. Once she knew what she was dealing with it became a lot easier.
The little Folk are looking interesting!

I have dealt with this for 8 years now.

Once you take the meds for a couple weeks to get all the inflammation gone, you can control it by omitting the nuts, seeds, etc., just like you said.

I take omperzole daily now and haven't had a flair up during this time.

Praying you will feel better soon.

I'm so glad they found an answer for you. Those in my family who have this also manage things with diet and have done quite well. I'm sure you will do just as well.
I love the view from your window! What a lovely spot from which to create. Your owl flag is adorable. I would love to visit your shop someday.
Take care and don't overexert yourself.

We are both relieved to find out the cause of your problems. Steve has had this for years and is managing it with diet. Unfortunately, some good things become no-no's, like corn on the cob, nuts, and popcorn. Hope you're feeling better. Fingers crossed for GREAT weather next Sat.!!

My husband has the same problem , his first attack landed him in the hospital though ! You were lucky ! A new diet without peanuts, popcorn, corn on the the cob & sometimes too much red meat are very , very hard for him to avoid.....he just loved peanuts. I don't miss the mess of those shelled peanuts though !!! Hope you feel better soon ! Keeping your hands busy with your crafts will help you !

Hi Lori,
Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well, but glad you found the cause. My husband has the same tummy issues. Watching your diet will work the best, skip any meds! Also, take "princess bites and chew your food really well", like I keep telling him. LOL :-) Feel better! ~Charl

I have had diverticulitis many times. I find that if I avoid seeds, I'm OK. I also take fiber everyday, which grabs onto anything that could cause problems.

Don't forget that the lovely seeded fruits are on the no-no list [strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, etc.] What I ask my patients to do is heal well and good then try ONE of these items in very small amounts to see what is the least and most likely to give you a flare again.
All my best in your recovery.
