Entertaining Angels ~

A Good Sunday afternoon to you my friends ~
it is a loverly October day, warm & sunny
...but with an obvious Autumn chill in the air...

I've had the woodstove in the Keeping Room going today,
...seems like it is colder in this old farmhouse than it is outside ~ the welcome warmth from the stove makes it cozy and a perfect environment for stitching ~

here's what I've been working on:
"Christmastide"

~ two angels decorating their feather tree ~

I'll be making this finished piece into a hanging-huswif to hold your threads, pins & scissors...

centering the cardboard between the finished stitching and backing fabric
pinning the linen, cardboard & backing together to stitch all three together ~
taking my time ...enjoying the moment and the woodstove ~
I chose old-looking, muted thread colors for this design...
...I love how the angels' wings almost disappear.
stitched onto 30ct Olde Farmhouse Linen from Notforgotten Farm
 ...just a couple more stitches....

I chose antique red velvet (from a Victorian table shawl) for the backing...
...perfect for a Christmas design, don't you think??

i love old velvet ~
 almost finished now...
just a few last stitches, then I'll add a ribbon hanger, scissor pocket and thread-rings...
hand stitching makes all the difference in the world for an authentic, old look ~
I'll share the finish with you tomorrow...
I think you''ll be pleased with how it will be once completed.

Hoping your Sunday evening will be a pleasant one!!

Blessings from Notforgotten Farm...
Lori

Will be sure to stop by again tomorrow...I have a few pieces to finish and maybe this style would work for at least one of them. I love the colors you have chosen.
