getting close ~

Each morning this Momma Doe brings her twin fawns to the back of the farmhouse
where our water softener empties it's salt/water down the back hill...
they come in for a good lick of salt ~
(I checked to make sure the salt will not harm them, in fact the vet said that the salt is good for them)

can you see the spots on the fawn to your left??

Momma keeping an eye on me ~
 iin the fall, the deer begin to turn a darker color, to help them hide in the shadows of hunting-season
darkening fur on her side....
 one of the twins wouldn't come any closer,
but the little one in front came walking straight up with momma ~
i think they sense not to fear me :)
little fawn in the back alert & tall ~
 these photos weren't photoshopped or manipulated ~
they look 'ethereal'
 because I took their pics through the screen of my kitchen window!

beautiful morning sunlight shining on those BIG ears !!!!
i love all of the friends that come to visit us here on the farm...
peter & I were walking with the dogs the other evening and we could hear a saw-whet owl in the woods...and then we came upong thee biggest set of turkey prints ever!
their tracks were bigger that peters outstretched hand ~ that's a big turkey!
I'm hoping to catch a few pics of them in our big field for you...occasionally they leave me feathers :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have been busy in the shop, and with the help of my 'dream team', Flea & Joan,
it is coming together nicely...hugs and thanks to my two best buds!!!!!
tomorrow is set up day for the vendors of the show ~ the weather for the rest of the week and weekend is supposed to be *SPARKLING* so I am thrilled about that!
I'll take some pics of the shop all decorated for the show and will share them here with you all soon~
Hoping you all have a beautiful & creative day!!!
Love the pictures you posted of the deer! Since moving to NC, I have been waiting to catch a glimpse of some in our backyard. I haven't seen any yet..I hope to though. We have been hearing an owl every night and we saw a fox out back another night. It is so much fun seeing wildlife isn't it?! Wishing you a beautiful day today filled with many Blessings!
What a wonderful treat. I do think the wildlife know when they are safe. Just like when I take pictures of the hummingbirds and coyotes... they allow me pretty close to them. I love the look of pictures though the window screen Sometimes it is the only way I can capture the moment too.
You captured some awesome photos of Mother Nature at her best! I could watch deer - young and old for hours and never tire..they are so graceful and just gorgeous.
I wish you luck with your show...wishing I could attend.
