in a painterly way.....

Finally,
it was cool enough last night for me to actually catch come much needed sleep...
i haven't been sleeping well lately, between this disgusting, humid heat, menopause
 and well,
i have tons on my mind...
(didja ever try to go to sleep at night,. and your brain won't stop talking to itself?)
*ugh*
here's what it's been saying...
Hannah will be leaving our nest for college on the 18th. (i do not want to talk about it)
i have two big shows looming. ( i don't wnat to talk about it!)
I have pattern deadlines. (did I say I didn't want to talk about it?)
I have another round of hay harvesting. (really , it's 2 am, lets' not discuss this now)
I have classes coming up. (i kjnow I KNOW)
I hate the cat box. (peeee yooooo)
(i love my kitties)
my stupid brain will start chattering off all of these things (and many more)
...as soon as it thinks I'm falling asleep peacefully. what the heck?!((*&^@#????
my Mom calls this
MIND CHATTER
and i hate it.
it gets worse with menopause, cause now I can't remember what it was just saying to me.
and stupid me asks it to repeat itself, so it does.
again & again...and yet again...duuuuuh.
I know lots of you can relate....but seriously...enough is enough already...blech.

BECAUSE
I was well-rested today, I figured I'd get out my paints and brushes...

I love to take time to paint, it's a well-needed break from working with textiles...
so I painted up a slew of tiny mini paintings...
(the "larger" ones measure only 3 X 3 inches, the smaller are just 2" x 2")

aren't they sweet?
perfect little primitive size, I think;...

my stars they could fit in anywhere....

see the tiny little grren jack?
see that tiny little black easel? how fleepin' cute is that?
i have an easel for Each Painting!!!

and here are some unfinished, yet base-painted canvases...
...primed and ready for their time in my brush's spotlight.
(love my rusty old water jar...)

I'll get to these tomorrow, after I process and pack orders in the shop...

I have used the same paintbrushes for years...
they travel with me occasionally and always have room for them...

i take good care of my brushes,
although the occasional stray-hair needs to be cut or plucked off...
I think every artist has certain brushes they turn to time & again.

I think they're beuteous in their simple glass mayonnaise jar in the evening light...don't you?

funny how we get attached to things...

ANYhoo, the little paintings will be available in my ETSY shop,
at our Gathering here on the farm (September 15th)
and at the Ghoultide Gathering in MICHIGAN....
 and please visit my
Early Work Mercantile offerings on the 15th of this month for larger paintings ~

I am hoping you all get a welcomed relief from this heat,...
I wish you beautiful, quiet rainy days for your gardens and some much needed time for you to sit quietly & create something ~
Blessings from the Farm,
Lori

Love the little paintings!
I'd like to tell you menopause won't last long, but I'd be a big fat liar!

Sweet little paintings. If I was menopausal during this unbearable humidity, they would have to issue a public warning. It would be dangerous. Lol

Too too cute these little guys are~~~ I love that little easel too.. And, yes, I am definitely in that age bracket who can relate with the mind running on and ....on and on....

Take care, Faye

LOVE the little paintings, and I will be checking your etsy shop in the hopes of purchasing one... or two.... :)
Oh my.... so good to hear that others are having the same menopausal symptoms as me ... I've become quite the insomniac and have functioned on just a few hours of sleep over a couple of days...... No fun at all....
Have a nice night......

I said it before and I'll say it again because it's worth repeating...you are amazing!! Your work just gets better and better with time. I soooo understand the whole mind chatter thing, had to smile and nod my head as I read your post. Hannah...so hard to let her go. I know, been there...done that and will again in two years. Grab that beautiful jar and those well loved brushes and maybe paint and canvas will capture her image in your art form?? Wishing you some quiet moments ~Kriss~

Hey Lori, I just got on the site for the Ghoultide Gatherings to see where in Ohio it's held (I live in Pennsylvania and was hoping it might be close) and it said it's in Michigan?? Did it change to Ohio and they didn't post it yet? ~Kriss~

Love your paintings !!! They look great arranged like that , a quilt block ! That chatter that you are dealing with can be just awful ! Cool weather & being able to sleep with a blanket & quilt will bring relief . Best wishes to your daughter....her visits home will be very special.

Love those little paintings! Unfortunately, I too am a sufferer of "mind chatter"! Now if only one of us could come up with a cure for the millions of us afflicted...
