Update:

my sister Jo has been hospitalized since Sunday June 14th...she was admitted onto the Oncology floor of Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, VA, where they hooked her up to IV fluids and meds...she has been suffering terribly with pain in her stomach, which we believe to be caused from the tumors on her liver...the chemo that she's taking makes her so violently ill that she can't sometimes hold down her pain meds, and that in turn, makes things just plain worse...
I'm waiting for a phone call this morning from her, to let me know if they will release her, or keep her yet for more tests...she was scheduled to have an MRI/CT-scan to help diagnose the pains she's been having, but she couldn't have that done because she can't hold down the Barrium drink needed for the procedure...*sigh*...a vicious circle to say the least...
My continued thanks to you all who keep us in your thoughts and well-wishes...I'll keep you posted as to what happens next!
Please, enjoy this day, no matter if it is rainy...tell your loved one how much he/she is cared for and appreciated...give hugs to everyone, and
*BLESSED BE*
Lori

I've been through this recently with a friend - {{{hugs}}}. Don't they have pain medication that comes in patches that might work?

I'm so sorry to hear this, Lori. They do have patches for pain as well as pumps. She should ask her doctor about it. I will pray for her & the family.

Healing thoughts and prayers are heading your sister's way. I went through this type of thing with my Mother last year. She had an intestinal blockage and couldn't keep that barium down. Twice they made her drink it while I held the bucket and cold towel for her head. I hope and pray that the Dr's can find something to help her.

Lori I am so sorry to hear this. Just for your info if they are going to do a MRI they don't need Barium. My brother has stomach cancer and he has been on chemo since last September and we will find out at the end of July if it has finally worked and shrunk the tumor outside his stomach. His cocktail of drugs managed to get rid of the secondary on his liver and lymph nodes so there is hope. There is always hope. I do hope she feels better soon. Lots of Love Patti xxx

Lori, such a sad thing to have to go through, both painful and emotional. The pain pumps do provide alot of relief as do the drips. Hope she gets help with this. Prayers to all of you.
